Overview
SC Freiburg is a German professional football club founded in 1904 and based in Freiburg im Breisgau, in the southwest of the country. The club competes in the Bundesliga, the top division of German football, and plays its home matches at the Europa-Park Stadion. Freiburg has historically been regarded as a modest club operating on limited resources compared to many Bundesliga rivals, yet it has maintained a consistent presence in the top flight over several decades, largely through prudent management and a well-regarded youth development system.
The club has never won the Bundesliga title but has qualified for European competition on multiple occasions, representing a considerable achievement given its size. The squad includes goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, defenders Matthias Ginter and Christian Günter, and forward Florian Müller among others. Christian Streich served as manager for over a decade and became one of the longest-serving and most respected coaches in German football during his tenure.
