Overview

Mexico's national football team, known as El Tri, is governed by the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol, which was founded in 1927. The team competes within CONCACAF and has won the CONCACAF Gold Cup twelve times, making it the most successful nation in that competition. Mexico also won the FIFA Confederations Cup in 1999. The team has qualified for numerous FIFA World Cup tournaments and has reached the round of sixteen on multiple occasions, though it has not advanced beyond that stage since 1986.

The current squad includes experienced goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who has represented the country at several World Cups, alongside Carlos Acevedo and Jesús Rangel as goalkeeping options. Outfield players such as César Montes and Jorge Sánchez provide defensive stability, while Santiago Giménez and Raúl Jiménez lead the attacking options. Mexico's next competitive fixture is a World Cup match scheduled for July 2026.
