The Argentina national football team represents Argentina in men's international football and is governed by the Argentine Football Association, founded in 1893. The team competes within CONMEBOL, the South American football confederation, and plays its home matches primarily at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. Argentina has won the FIFA World Cup three times, in 1978, 1986, and 2022, and has claimed the Copa América on fifteen occasions, making it one of the most decorated national sides in the competition's history.
The team has produced several widely recognised players across its history, including Diego Maradona, who captained the 1986 World Cup winning side, and Lionel Messi, who captained the 2022 triumph in Qatar. Argentina also won the CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup of Champions, known as the Finalissima, in 1993 and 2022.
The current squad includes goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, defenders Lisandro Martínez and Nahuel Molina, and forward Lautaro Martínez, alongside Lionel Messi. An upcoming fixture is scheduled for 27 March 2026, a Finalissima match against a UEFA representative side.
